They’re looking out the window.

My guess is Mom is getting out of her car.
Maybe even with groceries!

They watch till the last possible second, before their furious dash to the door.

It looks like origami… but actually, this is simply the way it comes in the package.

Don’t be alarmed by the leg position. Unfold it carefully, cover it for warmth (be sure to leave openings for it to breathe), and offer sufficient feed…. it’ll be fine.

Okay, you guys are probably right.

Didn’t occur to me because it looks square, like a record… but that might be the angle.

Also, it’s so big… I’ve only had 8″ Androids…. way less than half that size, and quite rectangular.

I blew it up to see if i could recognize the face.
That’s when i noticed the camera on the side.
She’s got it turned sideways to get full screen.
And, no, i didn’t recognize the person on it. 🙂

He is a growing boy. And a big one. I can’t tell when or where this was taken, but I don’t believe it is the USA or anytime in the past five years.

Wait a minute!

Demon cat… 2 priests…. is this another rip-off human version of The Basset Exorcist?

Why do they keep trying? No human version could be as good!

LOL…. I saw another version of this, something like 3,700 disks, and people were discussing the possibility, even though it’s a joke.

Of course there are some files in it that just won’t fit on 1.44 Mb disks, or even on some special 1.90- something Mb installation disks Microsoft made for Win95….

But somebody figured out that by.leaving those out, you could theoretically install a somewhat functional version with around 1,400 floppies.

Even so, the stack of disks would be over 15 feet tall!

….

I might still have (somewhere) a set of floppies I got years ago for installing Windows 3.0.

Note… not 3.1, which is what everybody used.

These were given to me to install on a 2nd hand 486 computer when I bought it from a supposed charity… They weren’t licensed to distribute 3.1, but apparently Microsoft didn’t care about 3.0, which was so flawed they’d had to come up with 3.1.

No thanks. I found a… um … well, you know… I borrowed 3.1

Anyway it was a whole long boxful… Windows 8 would have to be way bigger.

Theoretically it is possible to even have the larger than 1.44 files included. It’s not at all difficult to split files into smaller chunks to fit the floppy discs, then assemble them back together on the hard drive during the install.

Before Microsoft Office, I had a suite of programs that shipped that way. Each application was several discs – you could run the programs from the floppys – it would read one, ask you to insert the next, until the whole program loaded, but if you had a hard drive, their installer patched them together into a single file.

I’m no expert… I was told years ago that some files were splittable, and some weren’t.

In the discussion I read, they were talking about some files that had to be left out… one was a video demo of something. But I’m certainly not arguing the point. I’m a self taught user, not a programmer.

I’ve had programs, too, that you had to swap disks to run …

In fact in early days, like on my Commodore, there wasn’t enough room in memory or on disk to load some whole programs..You swapped disks through every session.

Yeah, I remember that too – word processor that did fine until you wanted the spell check…swap disk. Back to editing? Swap disk. And yet I was amazed at how fast it was 🙂

I think I still have my floppy disks for Win98 in a box somewhere.

I didn’t think you could even get it on floppy… Pretty sure you had to special order Win95 that way.

I knew someone who did, because she had spent a lot of money, for her, on a zip drive, right before they were outdated. (I did the same with a Commodore 128).

She was convinced CD would be the next flash in the pan, and wouldn’t buy one.

Those were the days when you kept your computer and upgraded, instead of buying a new one. We bought memory and hard drives and such at computer shows. Then systems got cheaper than parts, the shows disappeared, and now we don’t get brand name parts inside.

You could, but it was extremely rare. I might just have acquired them from the IT dept at work….. 😉 I’ve also got Win95 on floppy too (26 disks or something like that). This was before the days of USB support, so it was Win98 and not Win98se. I’ve never seen Win98se on floppy.

I used to frequent computer fairs, I can remember debating whether to buy a CD Writer or a flatbed scanner (Both expensive things in those days) and going with the CD Writer. I can also remember when MP3’s started to get popular because the players were becoming more widespread, and every show would have at least one stand full of bootleg copies of music CD’s in MP3 format, right up until the police and Trading Standards officers started showing up at the shows…..

Wow… either he’s very very small… Or those are some HUMONGOUS bats!

He must trust his disguise… I don’t want to tell him we can pick him out, so I doubt the bats are fooled.

Awww…. they seem sweet to me.

The person answering the door must know their mother… A big package of Dentastix is expensive.

They’d rather have jerky treats anyway. I think it’s a conspiracy of Moms.

Never had that, but I was so disappointed the last time we were in San Francisco. Went out for a late Saturday night dinner and they’d already run out of cioppino. Don’t remember the restaurant, but we were out on the water and it was sunset and absolutely gorgeous.

Just because it doesn’t credit the performers:

This is Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, and Alison Krauss…

“Didn’t Leave Nobody But The Baby”… from the “O Brother, Where Art Thou” soundtrack.

Sam Basset is so cool. I’m sure that’s where Bogie got his inspiration.

See… This is where what I said the other day comes in.
You don’t need to know, but it’s kind of fun to know, that Buck and Candace were at the time starring in their own Sherpa strips… and the murder victim represented a top editor at GoComics whom we all thought was the one trying to oust Sherpa (which turned out to be untrue.)

But it was all done for fun… which I hope you’re all having reading it.

Beautiful artwork, Nighthawks.

I forgot to mention the other day how much I love the animated steam on the train platform, when nothing else is moving.

Also, while I do love his obligatory trenchcoat… please don’t call his polka dot pajamas ugly! They’re so cute.
