to me, it was the creepiest scene from ‘The Shining’…..the boy is playing with his toy cars and is intently looking down on them when a ball rolls in from out of the scene directly into his play area. In the picture above the boy looks up to see who rolled that ball and is greeted by a wide , long completely empty corridor—-with not a single person in sight.
Mel Gibson, Tom Hanks, Bruce Willis, John Travolta
Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Douglas, Robert DeNiro, Harrison Ford
Al Pacino, Robert Redford, Jack Nicholson, Clint Eastwood
I stand corrected.
I redid my first search and again came up with Spike Lee.
Then I searched for XXXXXX.
The picture in the tableau is of XXXXX X attending the premiere of “Ixxxxxxx Wxx.”
Wondering, as I do, how my first search got it wrong, I searched for Spike Lee. I’m still wondering, they do not look anything alike.
I’ve gone back in and corrected my error.
Thanks for pointing that out.
That monster doesn’t recognize quality if he thinks that way about “Cleo and Company”.
I suggest he go over to Olivia James’ (a pseudonym by the way) abominable interpretation of “Nancy”.
She’s had it since Monday, April 9, 2018; took it straight to the bottom then, and hasn’t written anything better since.
I check every 4 months or so. It’s puzzled me from the beginning as to why she was hired to write it; she apparently hasn’t a clue who the characters are supposed to be.
This spoils my perfect record of not getting any of them on the first picture.
Here is a bit more information about the lead-in picture.
This is from the 1943 movie “Du Barry Was a Lady” (and it was shot in Technicolor).
Lucille Ball ‘s role was that of May Daly, (and as near as I can figure out she played a role within a role; Madame Du Barry).
Her hair was dyed red for the first time for the role, and remained that way for the rest of her life.
Obviously it’ll take a lot more time and therapy but it means she’s still in there, and she has a chance!
To be able to communicate to any degree means she can have some input into her life, and let some wants and needs be known.
Going from passive recipient to active participant is a huge breakthrough.
And it’s only been (a very long) two weeks… to come that far already is nothing short of amazing.
I don’t want to assume, but it seems like the tubeless feeding must be working, too.
Yay!!!

That is great news about StelBel.
I don’t know her that well, but was she musical in the past? Church choir, singing in a rock band, that sort of thing? Hearing music and trying to sing along is what brought my uncle out of aphasia after a really high fever fried his brain. It’s also useful for connecting with people suffering from dementia. Music somehow lies deeper in the brain than regular speech and can be a pathway for some recovery.
Today’s Songs:
‘Ride, Sally Ride,’ ‘Riders on the Storm,’ ‘Rikki Don’t Lose That Number,’ and ‘Ring of Fire,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Baked Stuffed Pasta.’
Not to be confused with ‘Mustang Sally’ (lyrics below)
My dad didn’t like the ‘dog without a bone an actor out on loan’ line; he didn’t think it was dark enough for the song.
Did she or did she not ‘lose that number’ (and whose was it anyways / if it was his you’d think he’d say ‘my’)?
Johnny Cash.

Al Green & Willie Mitchell 1970
Ride Sally Ride Lyrics [Intro]
Yeah, again
[Verse 1]
Sally was a girl that lived in Memphis
Was down on all the latest dances
I found the groove and Sally start to move
And all the guys taking chances and everybody would say
[Chorus]
Ride Sally ride, all you gotta do wipe your weepin’ eyes
Tell you just shake it to the east now, baby, yeah just
Shake it to the west now, baby, hey, baby just
Shake now, shake it, shake, shake it, yeah
[Verse 2]
Sally would dance all night long
This is what I say to you, yeah
How we fly we doin’ till we die
We dancin’ till the night is through
Everybody sing
[Chorus]
Ride Sally ride, oh, make me feel good
Wipe your weeping eyes, all you gotta do is
Shake it to the east now, baby, I’d keep on sayin’
Shake it to the west now, baby, gettin’ good, I said
Shake it, shake it, babe
Shake it, yeah, shake it, yeah
Early in the morning yeah
In the evenin’ go on and shake it, hey, hey baby
[Outro]
Ride Sally ride
Lord have mercy
Wipe your weeping eyes
Go on and get it, get it
Ride Sally ride
You’re right, of course… especially about the cannelloni.
I haven’t made any in ages but I don’t cook them before I fill them, or they tear.
But there’s an odd thing about the word “manicotti”…
You’re talking about the real Italian dish, which we can get in some restaurants here and some people make at home.
It is indeed crespelle, though here either dish may also be made by rolling small fresh pasta sheets around a filling.
….
But in the US (and presumably Canada, from this recipe), what most people call manicotti is an Italian American pasta… another large empty tube.
Different companies make their large pasta in different sizes, but within one brand, the manicotti will usually be slightly larger than the cannelloni, a bit thicker, and ridged like penne rigate.
I have to think Barilla doesn’t sell this in Italy!
Probably not Germany either.

Oh, those eyes!

Happy³ is right, I think.
Somebody’s probably going to tell me those is a scene from some horror movie, cos I wouldn’t know…
But just on the face of it… what a great (if hideous) rug for playing on.
Houses, roads, fields, space ships and carnival rides, whatever your mind can make from the shapes, as long as you can ignore the colors.

that’s as close to the movie i’ll get!
The carpet does look commercial…
I probably should have realised it was the one that leads to that creepy elevator.
I’ve seen stills and clips… Just not the whole thing.
But something did tell me it came from a horror movie.

No change.
No change at all.

Love it!
You’ve been slimed.
Repulsive song by Dion.
The lyrics, anyway.
I like the music and his singing… It’s a classic.
But that bad boy love-em and leave-em theme was way too popular in that era.
Thank you for the update!

That’s why I’d recommend playing that song above to her loudly. Let the other patients (or staff) in the ward complain (I doubt many will).
thanks, NH for that wonderful update! stel, you are doing so well! you are amazing. xxoo.
Yes, thank you.
We can only pray that her improvement continues.
we’re still adding her to our prayer lists!
Yes, thanks Nighthawks.

I forgot the recipe.
Have fun.
That way, it’s close to impossible to fill canneloni.
And you don’t cook manicotti aka crespelle. They are simply rolled.
You’re right, of course… especially about the cannelloni.
I haven’t made any in ages but I don’t cook them before I fill them, or they tear.
But there’s an odd thing about the word “manicotti”…

Probably not Germany either.
Barilla has a very – well – creative way of naming their products…
They did this one to be in line with North American marketing.
Many brands of pasta in the US and presumably Canada have this version of manicotti in their product ranges.
It’s called that in long-settled Italian American communities.
I usually make stuffed shells.
Riders on the Storm is another great one. Ring of Fire is a pretty good one too.
Good news! Very good news.

Thank you for the encouraging Stel Bel update.
