PUMPKIN COOKIES A frosted cake-like cookie with lots of spice.
1 cup sugar
1 cup margarine or butter, softened (use butter)
1 cup cooked pumpkin
2 teaspoons vanilla (real, not artificial)
2 eggs
2 cups Pillsbury’s Best ® All Purpose
Flour*
3 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins (plump before measuring)
1 cup chopped nuts
FROSTING
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, (use butter)
softened
2 cups (yes, 2) powdered sugar
Dash salt
1 to 2 tablespoons milk (whole milk 3.25% milk fat)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (real not artificial)
I put the instructions and variations in this spoiler box.
Heat oven to 350° F. In large bowl, combine
sugar, margarine, pumpkin, vanilla and eggs;
blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring
cup; level off. Stir in flour, baking powder, spice
and salt; blend well. Stir in raisins and nuts. Drop
by rounded teaspoonfuls, 2 inches apart, onto
ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350° F. for 12 to 15 minutes or until
lightly browned. Remove from cookie sheets
immediately. Cool. In large saucepan, brown 1/3
cup margarine (butter) over medium heat until light
golden brown. Blend in remaining frosting
ingredients; beat until smooth. Frost cooled
cookies. 48 cookies.
TIPS:
* Self-rising flour is not recommended.
Cinnamon can be substituted for pumpkin pie
spice: decrease to 2 teaspoons
Whole wheat flour can be substituted for all
purpose flour.
For applesauce cookies, substitute applesauce
for pumpkin. Increase flour to 2 1/2 cups and
substitute cinnamon for pumpkin pie spice.
HIGH ALTITUDE — Above 3500 Feet: Bake at 375° F. for
12 to 15 minutes.
Notes from me:
Regardless of altitude or temperature set, keep an eye on either type cookie from the 9:
minute mark. There is enough sugar and fat that they’ll go from done to burnt in the :
blink of an eye. The best solution is to bake a test cookie on its own and adjust the :
batch time accordingly.

It’s another Saturday night in Cleveland, or as we know it, Cleoland…
And time for some more fine Find-the-Differences fun.
A retro look to this one… that, or else Nighthawks is saving a few cents this week by not buying multicolored pixels.
The good thing about it is that it’s much easier for me to choose a color, for circling the differences, that won’t get lost in the artwork.

I’m glad there’s an exclamation point in his word balloon, so the monster feels appreciated.

Anyway… I’m posting the solution early again… Remember, that’s not a license to peek.
You don’t want to go sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong, not when you’re in the vicinity of a mad scientist who harvests body parts to make monsters.

I find a difference that is consolidated with another difference in your solution, and thought I had found 9. But your solution does indeed contain a clear difference that I missed. Phooey!
You don’t really want to know how my mind went from a photograph of Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot and basset in London to the two photographs below (unless, of course, you’d be ” — happy to see those nice young men in their clean white coats — “) but nonetheless, it did.

We get that a lot on Storrow Drive in Boston. There is a notorious underpass on Storrow that takes the driver under a bridge. “Stuck truck on Storrow” is a regular part of the traffic report on the radio. Sometimes the truck doesn’t stop in time and it’s like opening a pudding can.
