If a black cat crosses your path it means the cat has somewhere to go.

Vincent Proce is the artist.
I can’t find a title.

Me too…. It made sense cos Price was a noted art collector.

I thought “wow,I didn’t know he could also draw like that.”

Then….”oh. Duh.”

Mississippi Bulldogs vs. Crimson Tide
Tide 30, Bulldogs 0<. With only 5 minutes left, there’s no Way Mississippi is going to come back to win (they may come back, but they won’t win).
I’m leaving the game.

I guess I’m strange… I like all three of the “controversial” candies talked about here.

Candy corn we discussed the other day… I like it, but only occasionally, in small amounts.

I really like “Circus Peanuts” … those strangely orange-colored fake banana-flavored stiff marshmallow peanut shapes. But I haven’t had any in years.

They’re only good when they’re fresh and somewhat soft… but in most places they’re already too stale when you see them for sale. And that’s usually in some elegant candy boutique… like the dollar store, or that rack in the gas station with cello bags of candy and nuts that haven’t been restocked since 1967.

I mostly dislike artificial fruit flavoring of almost any kind… the only two flavors I sometimes forgive are orange and banana… and Circus Peanuts are about the only banana thing.

But watching this fellow knock them around in an open jar, and hearing them clink, you know they’re already no good.

What I love here is licorice, though I rarely have that either, any more.

I used to buy Pontefract cakes in an English sweet shop when I visited my sister in BC…. my favorite licorice ever, soft, chewy, and not too sweet.

But the company sold 20 or 30 years ago to Haribo, who say theirs are still the same, but they’re NOT.

Haribo makes gummy bears, and their supposed Pontefract cakes are shiny and gummy.
Yuck.

Now that I can find better ones online, I’m told I shouldn’t have real licorice…. so when I can find them, I buy black jelly beans, cos they’re made with anise instead.

Same here. But i can’t eat the licorice because it’s too tough.
Allsorts and jellybeans are the only black licorice i can chew any more.

I’m with you on all three. And like you, I haven’t had any of these in years. I used to eat real licorice as a kid ~ my go to candy. I was really disappointed when they said you shouldn’t eat it. Not too fond of the phony stuff.

The only way I get licorice is in Ouzo, or Araq.

I would try licorice flavoured beer because, while I’m not a huge fan, I don’t mind the flavour at all (unless it has a different taste than I’m imagining it would probably be only one).
Circus peanuts I had never heard of until today despite having lived through four Halloweens in Connecticut. Again, I’d try them out of curiosity.
As I’ve said, I like Candy Corn.

Changing channels, like fixing the computer, or opening a recalcitrant phone app, by using the patented “Cleo method” has the advantage of making sure you always own the latest devices.

It assures that you make new friends and always get a warm welcome at the local electronics stores.

It has the disadvantage of depleting your bank account, and keeping you always in debt… but what does that matter, if the dog is happy.

My Mom loved Shirley Temple, and took us to Shirley Temple movies, in the days when the matinees showed 20 year old films..

Later we watched them on TV.

In the early 1980s, my local UHF station still showed a Shirley Temple movie every Sunday morning, and I often watched them.

Sure, she mugged and postured… but it was still amazing that a tiny child could do the things she could.

….

I think she was six when she made “Bright Eyes”… the movie Cleo must be watching.

You have to remember that these were different times, and try to watch this with innocent eyes,

….

I know… There are things about it that absolutely don’t translate well to 2022…. especially since the studio dressed her very young, to try to keep her image going as a toddler sensation.

But even 4 year old girls no longer wear such short dresses, much less a 6-year-old.

I have a hard time if I dwell on watching her making cute faces while being passed around by grown men…

but nobody thought that way in 1934. I hope!

I’m super impressed!

Not just that you can post videos on a phone… I can too, though mine is android…

But that you can do it while recovering from major surgery, and probably on pain meds.

….

So glad you feel ok enough to even want to do it.

We’re keeping a light on…. and your seat warm.

Feel better soon!

Accepting that a typical kidney bean can be reshaped to a cylinder 1/2″ long by 1/4″ in diameter.
If I’ve done the math correctly, a mole of kidney beans would form a cube 792.67032403739554495688144375789 miles on a side.

Or to put it another way (at 09:56 hrs. E.D.T.) 792 miles 1,729 feet 5.2321977660718650494987442744 inches per side.

Given variation in bean size, you’ve carried your answer out to far too many insignificant digits.

Look what came up as a search answer when I put 254 ( because I regularly eyeball decimal spots after the fact ) / 2 into the search bar (because my brain isn’t fully working today) to say that it would look like 1.27 centimetres of snow.

“Lose that Girl” is a gradual evolution of the boys’ attitudes to women, compared to Rubber Soul’s “Run for your Life.” Instead of controlling their girls by threats of violence, they use “treating her right.” Women are still property. But they get better as time goes on.
