I hope the U.S. border does open the other way for your daughter and husband, but if it does not I think your husband’s worry about the two week quarantine arrangement is unnecessary (see the attachment / click to magnify).
There are rules about what to do if you contract Covid while in Canada, but if you don’t, as far as I understand it, you’re completely clear otherwise.
If you haven’t already I’d suggest phoning or visiting the Canadian embassy, or your local consulate if you have one, and clarify those requirements.
(Contrary to the popular belief of Canadians in general, our government representatives actually do want to help.)
Thanks so much, Dennis. One of my wishes is to get to your fair city next summer. We were planing on visiting last year, and you know how that turned out…
Whaddaya know?! Betty Boop as a mermaid! I had no idea.

Wow, Dorothea! What an array of cards, flowers, animations, comestibles and wishes has already been assembled. Have a great day and do something special for yourself.
Such a treat! My hubby doesn’t care for apples, so I don’t make such things. It’s always nice when someone else does.

What a beautiful way to start my day. Thanks, everyone!
The usual celebration will happen here – Eggs Benedict and champagne for brunch. I’ve been making hollandaise a la Julia Child for more years than I’ll mention – on the stove top, none of this sissy double boiler crap. Takes about 5 minutes which is perfect timing for poaching the eggs. Hubby deals with warming the biscuits (if I don’t need to make fresh and then it’s Alton Brown’s grandma’s recipe) (stopped doing English muffins after our trip to New Orleans and all the restaurants there serve them on Southern buttermilk biscuits) and the Canadian bacon.
Dinner is usually an adventure. Tonight’s will be lamb shanks slow cooked with wine, California and pasilla peppers, and herbs. Pickled red onion with cilantro and lime (Peruvian recipe). Preceded by “Steuby snacks” – deep-fried pork belly cubes dusted with powdered sugar. Sounds weird but it’s delish. Recipe from Steuben’s in Denver.
[the card is original]
(And, BTW, apologies for being a bit late. We’re having heavy rain right now, and the internet went out for about a half hour.)
NOW………………….PARTY ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Happy Birthday, Dorothea! Wishing you all the best!
Thank you, StelBel! It’s beautiful.
No need to apologize for being late – I’m never up until 5am EST at the earliest, I would never have known.
And this one, too. Maxwell Milton is a cutie. Thanks!
Happy, hoppy, hoppy birthday!!!
Thank you, Happyhappyhappy.
what’s the tiny image of a car on a race track?
That’s my avatar – our 928S4 on the track at MIS (Michigan International Speedway).
I would be interested in seeing a good photo of it.
Maybe later this month – if the US opens the border so my daughter and husband can visit.
Hubby is still wary of going to her with the stipulation that you need a place to quarantine for 2 weeks.
In the meantime.. I’ll just have to party on here. LOL

It’s certain to come true!
Thanks so much, GerardD.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOROTHEA!! Hope you enjoy your special day!
xoxo
Rita
Many thanks, Rita. It’s a lovely bouquet.
Happy Birthday, Dorothea!
I was going to bring out the cake…
But I thought maybe we should have a little food first.
….
Here’s a start….
yum!!!!
Wouldn’t want anybody eating cake on an empty stomach…
yes! can’t have your cake and not eat this first
I’m baffled. What is it?
dunno. but it’s gross!
One of these people apparently unknowingly ordered the above.
This is as close as I could find to an accurate statement of its reality.
Oh, yum. All this food looks delicious. Don’t know where to start.
Thanks, Susan.
But NOW you can have cake…
And Dorothea… if everybody has already cut a piece…
Make a wish, and it will magically be whole again!
…..
It looks luscious. I don’t remember – did I tell you that purplie is MY favorite color? If not, you made a great guess.
Dorothea,
Thanks so much, Dennis. One of my wishes is to get to your fair city next summer. We were planing on visiting last year, and you know how that turned out…
Please let me know!

Thank you, Liverlips. I know, it’s overwhelming. I haven’t had a birthday party like this – ever!
Hopefully, I’ll take most of the day off from work. I’m self-employed and barring an emergency, I can do that.
Tigressy, thank you for both the cake and the card. Berries…yum! What’s the cake flavor underneath?
Anything your heart desires.
Happy Birthday Dorothea!! I don’t have a cake with candles, so how about a nice bit of lightning from a Tesla coil?
Happy B-day, D!
Thanks, Nighthawks.
I’ll take it, Arfside. No calories and a spectacular show. Win, win!
and just because this IS Cleo and Company:
Apple Betty day

Have I mentioned we’re foodies?
Wow, that sounds great!
Good morning Balladeers, (((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
