Interestingly, the “work” meeting evolved into something much better. It was to connect the new team member to the current team, but our “boss” and the other senior person were tied up in yet another meeting and didn’t make it. Newbie and I spent the hour getting to know each other, sharing stories of how we each got to where we are now, of family, etc. Neither having planned to be where we’ve landed. It was great fun. Something we’re short of as our organization is going virtual.
I’ve been a distance worker since 2007 (the first!) So this new, really virtual situation is nothing new for me. I’m in Michigan, newbie is in N Carolina. Others currently are in Maine, S Carolina, Delaware, Maryland, NY, Pennsylvania. We’ve also had folks in California and Hawaii.
