The title is “Hard Working Bee.”
As near as I can tell it’s by a photographer on Deviant Art by the name of Arnie M.. What the ?logo/signature? at the bottom of the picture is (it appears on only a few others at his SITE ) I have no idea.
He doesn’t just do close-up insect photography, he’s also into landscapes and general types too; the site is worth a visit, I think.
RE: The Platters, I have never understood that extra “D” sound in the chorus, i.e. “Only you, can D make the darkness bright.” Does anyone have an explanation?
Love the Shania Twain video and the kitty adoption.
Today’s Songs:
‘Cupid’s Chokehold,’ ‘Danger Zone,’ ‘December, 1963,’ and ‘Denise,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Apple Cinnamon Pork’
The kid who plays Cupid makes the video.
Unfortunately, they opened a brand new In ‘n Out a mile up my street towards town… and also unfortunately, they have great chocolate milkshakes.
That’s a west coast (I think) hamburger drive in chain with the best fast food burgers around, as cheap as McDonald’s…. though fast food isn’t actually what I call cheap anymore.
A cheeseburger is I think just over $4, and a shake, thick and chocolaty, made with real ingredients, just under 3.
Spending $7 for the two is not healthy for my body or my budget, but the temptation is strong.
….
I did it one night, driving home from the county fair, where you smell frying food all day, but the prices were unbelievable.
A cheeseburger was $14 to $18 (without fries or anything else!) and a shake something astronomical, so I never ate there.
So far, I’ve resisted stopping at In ‘n Out again… But now I really want a chocolate shake.
Having recently moved west from the east coast, a good chocolate shake is a wonderful thing to find – thanks for the heads up on In & Out. I will give them a try!
I know: not good for me either, but life is too short and an occasional pleasure is usually worth it!
This film always has an air of forbidden fruit about it.
I think I’ve told you guys my Mom wouldn’t let me see any Marlon Houndo pictures when I was a kid… especially The Wild One!
I think she was afraid I would be influenced by his famed sexuality,
along with his bad attitude.
Funny, cos I never found him the least bit attractive…..
he seemed old, kind of blasé, even when he was young, and when I finally saw this film, his 1950’s slang was foreign to me. and dated.
…
Funny, she did let me see James Dean Dog’s films….
and “Basset Without A Cause” influenced me a lot more than the Wild One could have, had I seen it at the same age.
It was a few years later, and Dean Dog was younger… even though he was playing a teenager when he was really 25.
He still looked the part,…. and very handsome, with that perfect, insolent slouch.
Houndo never struck that nerve with me….
he was almost 30, and looked it, and didn’t show quite the same vulnerability, though he was also portraying alienated youth.
But I know his influence, and that of this movie, was very strong on Howlywood and society….
The human actor, who tried to copy Houndo’s name and swagger, but affected a mumbly way of talking instead of Houndo’s soft bark, had the same sort of reputation…
Another supposedly irresistible “bad boy” your mother wouldn’t want you to see. But I didn’t find him attractive either.
The studio however, pushed that image.
This is a poster for the human copydog film, that I would almost call exploitative… they’re trying to make the whole point of the movie be the human Marlon’s sex appeal.
Love this. I had Marlon’s poster on my walls for years as a kid – likely helped contribute to my becoming an avid motorcyclist. Need to get that one again and a full size Wild Dog as well!
Ummm…
Also on DEVIANT ART.

MY porridge!
“Lutiy Bear ” By: Feodor Rojankovsky
It reminds me of the illustrations from a children’s book… wish I could remember the title.
The bears had eyes like this.
I suspect it might be this one.
Feodor Rojankovsky illustrated it.
The full book is behind the picture link.
This picture appears in it.
Could be, indeed, thanks.
I’m remembering it differently, with darker bears… but this looks familiar too.
Could be another book, or I could be mixing up the two in my mind.
I thought I’d recognise the author’s name, which keeps almost but not quite coming to me.
Weirdly, on that site, they credit the illustrators, but not the authors!
NOSE!
Is she covered, or what?
She should win some kind of prize when the Queen sees that!

I still have a perfect score of not getting these.
Didn’t recognize the boy, and when I finally gave up and peeked, I didn’t recognize the man, either.
Just came back to it hours later… and for some reason now I recognize the grownup.
Just in case anyone else doesn’t recognize him at either age, and wants to know:
thanks for all the help, Susan!—
I never do show my appreciation enough for all you do for C&C.
It’s that 7 figure paycheck… Oh wait, I think 9 figure.
I keep getting raises but it doesn’t seem to matter. Let me look.
Right… my last check from C&C was for $000,000,000.00.
Plus Stel gave me a $0,000 bonus!
You’d think there’d be more than $12.37 in my checking account. I don’t remember spending all that.
I hate to mention it here, but it’s regrettable that some people want a return to those days.

I am SO glad that poor dog finally got something he wanted.
Somehow, Marlon doesn’t look too wild – or tough – in that pathetic excuse for a hat.
Love those ears flapping in the breeze!

Yes. A great song, but it sounds like they sing “canned”… only in the opening sentences of each stanza.
In other lines they don’t say it that way.
One line has the confusing lyric “only you can(ned) make the darkness dry”, which also needs explanation!

MMM’s favorite.

Thanks a lot, Nighthawks!
Walk the 2 mile round trip and enjoy that shake “guilt-free”.

I’m not a Brando fan.
I just never warmed to him as an actor.
The same thing with Charlton Heston.
i agree!
I seldom agree with your choices, as you know, but I agree about those two.
As romantic leads, especially, they’re just not attractive at all.
This film always has an air of forbidden fruit about it.

and I’m sure it paved the way for James Dean Dog.

The humans had several posters for their version, but none copied Stel’s.
Here are the human actors, though, posing just like her poster…
I guess they’re trying to look like they’re in in the basset film.
Humans, again.
I wish I could get clips from BassetTube.
And just for the record.., (useless pun)…
Hey, you earned one of these for that.
