I don’t know why you insist on paying for a dishwasher. I can get them just as clean at no cost to you. Allow me to demonstrate.

You actually can… they’re just not very popular any more. I think Wal-Mart and Target stopped selling them.

But places like Sportsman’s warehouse and Bass Pro Shop do… I get their unsolicited flyers in my mail.

Most of the new ones use plastic rings of tiny caps, leaving spent rings littering the street, but I’ve seen ads for paper roll caps too.

….

Btw for at least 20 years Federal law has required that the muzzle tip or even more of a toy gun has to be bright orange, or the whole thing has to be made in bright colors, to prevent it being mistaken for a real weapon.

So what happens?

A developmentally disabled young man brandishing an obvious toy gun was shot and killed by the police in my city a few years ago.

The trial, appeals, lawsuits and countersuits have been in the courts ever since.

And unregistered, lethal, plastic-bodied “ghost guns” now come in bright colors and look like toys.

At the age i wanted the caps, forget about the gun. The things were too finicky. I’d rather use a rock or a hammer.
Set one of those rolls on edge and give it a good wack with a hammer if you wanted a big bang.

I badly burned my fingernail that way…

Hit a little pile of caps, not a roll, with a rock, and half my fingernail was gone, the remainder black.

My mother, ignoring my pain and tears, yelled at me, and said I destroyed it forever…

But it grew back fine.

My fear of caps lasted longer than the injury.

I had one as a kid. I can remember my grandmother using it to scare the birds away from the fig trees in the back yard.

A picture link to the opening page of the cover story (This is a “Harvey” comic, by the way ( Baby Huey? Caspar the Friendly Ghost? Felix the Cat? et. al.?)
You’ll have to scroll down to the story.
The advertisements you pass will bring back memories.

Isn’t this…

the rose….

Right under the word “Rose” in the title… There’s a big oval mirror.

At the tip of the lyre-shaped ornamentation on the bottom of it, there’s what looks to me like a red rose on the table, half hidden behind a small, open grey box or tin.
Hard to tell for sure but looks like it to me.

It is, of course, a computer game still.
I agreed with Susan’s take at first glance, but then I ran across an animation, apparently from the game itself, showing that Tigressy is correct (the compass rose lifted off the floor and changed into a flower / I must have changed my search term because I can’t find it anymore).
Also, the complaints about the game online on Trust Pilot give it a rating of 1.8 out of five.

Unnecessary.

You didn’t find the rose, you found what the game calls the star.

See my reply to Alexi.

Besides, I took it that you were originally trying to make a joke, not point out the real rose…

Cos that’s not really a compass rose, which would have eight points, not twelve, with compass directions lettered on them.

Usually you give us too much information… The publisher of the cookbook, the price of a print of a picture… LOL.This time not enough!

But I was intrigued so i googled it some more.

This game apparently directs you to find many objects, and when you click them they turn into flowers.

The picture here is really not suitable , anyway, for a puzzle of the type we were expecting.

I ended up using Google Lens to find more about this scene.

It was just a coincidence that we were looking for a rose… which happens to be the one I and several others here found.

You saw the “star” on the floor turn into some kind of flower…

But it could have been any other object someone found. Apparently they all turn into flowers, which you collect in the game.

Here’s what I found, with ALL the hidden objects marked.

I circled two things

The rose and the star.

Btw since gameplay changes constantly, a few objects are moved, missing, or otherwise different from their places in the moment we see above.

This game is a free download, if you want to try finding 4 zillion objects in various scenes… Some people like it, others don’t.

It’s staged for social media views. There’s no water in the bucket, and someone happens to be filming at just the right time. There’s a lot of these about, a lot of them quite well done.

Today’s Songs:
‘House at Pooh Corner,’ ‘I Can’t Do The Sum,’ ‘I Can’t Help Myself,’ and ‘I Don’t Like Mondays,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Asian Cauliflower with Peas.’
‘I Don’t Like Mondays’:    Brenda Ann Spencer (now 61) is still in jail in Chino, California. Her next parole hearing is in 2025.
On a cheerier note:
Let’s go to the house at Pooh Corner and assist in counting all the bees in the hive and then go on to help Mary Contrary with her sum problem (from her birth date she was either 18 or barley 19 when ‘Babes in Toyland’ was shot).

A couple of years ago when we were in Busan, South Korea we were at our usual tiny food tent – raw fish and soups from the bones, seafood etc. – the owner was happy that I searched the neighboring table for unseasoned fish after the patrons had left (famous Korean actor!) for her cats who stayed under the heated floor.

She already knew that we loved cats, too – when we first met her cats she tried to chase them away to not disturb us. We laughed and told her not to.

That’s why most restaurants now ask you if you’d like “a box for that” instead of a doggy bag…

Our “would you like to take the rest of that to go?”

Poor Cleo… We’re on to you.

PS.. Dennis, did you see my reply yesterday, about your leftover sashimi?

I just went back and read it. I totally agree! But we had the chef’s choice sashimi platter, asked for about a dozen pieces (after starters), but they gave us about 20 pieces. We were stuffed!

We always loved this place on special occasions for their omekase, but they have stopped doing that. Looking for another place.

Wow.

Usually sashimi is skimpy.

Oh well.. sigh… It’s one of my favorite things but I’m not supposed to eat it now anyway.
