By Ralph Goings, 1928-2016, (an obviously…) photorealistic painter, who did a whole series of paintings of American diners ( “diners” as in restaurants, not people eating… though some have people in them)
He worked from very detailed photos and slides, which he took, but said the painter’s job was to go beyond the photo.
Yes… another Nikon Comedy Wildlife photography contest entry….
which the photographer, Morris Herskoz, for some reason titled “Feeling cute, might delete later”.
I found his website, where he says..
“Julia Butterflies will often land on a caiman’s eyes to lap up the minerals found in their salty crocodile tears. This particular Spectacled Caiman in Brazil’s Pantanal (wetlands) looked especially pleased with its new fashion accessories, and I couldn’t resist taking a photo of that self-satisfied look.”
I recognized them all, but what I didn’t recognize, cos I wasn’t looking for it, is that this photo is someone’s AI fantasy.
I googled Eastwood, to find out whether his 96th birthday was this year… and yes, it was in May… but I saw about half a dozen different photos, alone or with different “friends” and completely different cakes. Sylvester Stallone was in one, Arnold Schwartzenegger in another.
In reality, he looks older than this, and seemingly more feeble, in the most realistic images, which were of him alone, though I imagine someone was there.
If you’re questioning whether this one is AI, just check Eastwood’s disappearing arms, and DeNiro’s awkward right hand. Also, that big cake would be very heavy… probably too heavy for him to hold like that.
I know what they mean for the answer to be, and probably 99% of the time, it will
be
B, or 3 pages
Which was wrong….
and so is this….
By convention, books start on a right-hand page, which is numbered page 1. Page 2 is on the back of page 1, and from there on out, right-hand pages are odd, with the following even number on the reverse, the left-hand page.
Therefore 7 & 8, 100 & 101, and 222 & 223 are each the front and back of one page… Three pages total. It’s pretty impossible, in fact, to tear out a page from most books without removing its reverse side, no matter how it’s numbered.
But….
I’m not going to swear that there are no books in the world that don’t follow this convention.
In fact, I know there are old books only printed on one side, so you’d have to remove six pages, and others where full page pictures are not numbered. They usually still don’t put the next odd number on the reverse, but you never know.
To use, as an example, a book printed right to left, in, say, Chinese, Arabic, or Hebrew… All the odd numbers will now be on left hand pages, with the evens on the reverse, but the same pairs will still be on one page together.

When I was 6 years old, it was a very good year.
It was a very good year for lying in the sun, chasing squirrels, and snuggling with my humans.
you’ve been paying attention!
Dogs are always worth paying attention to. So much happiness in them.

A famous photo, but I’m not certain of the model’s identity. Daryl Hannah? Some Olympic swimmer?
Perfect symmetry even in the shadow ….X marks the spot .
She’s not a celebrity.
It’s a woman named Heidi Williams, taken by Kari Ann Photography.
Please tell me she doesn’t have bone spurs…

Once again… Not a photo, but a painting.

And to think I didn’t recognize anybody at first!
One helluvan expensive photo op.

No, no, no, no. This is wrong. That is a thunderstorm, and these are sunflowers. Sunflowers. What part of sunflowers do you not understand?

Not really sure which of them is Eugene Vernier, but I guess I’ll have to go with the dog.
Actually, Verner is the photographer, this print for sale for £175.

Coincidence….You posted while I was googling this, Baconboy….
And you’re right, of course.
This is Vogue model and one-time Bond girl Tanya Mallet, swimming with her dog.
Vernier originally took the photo for the July 1961 issue of British Vogue.

And… that kid is in big trouble!
That’s what I came up with, for a conventional printed book.
[edited at 2pm Thursday….a ton of typing and it was wrong…. Sigh…. .]
never mind…..
It’s a trick question.
Then explain it, please.
I’ve already done that in my answer.
OH!
You didn’t explain… It would have helped.
But now that it’s daytime…
I can see my error.
You guys are right….7 and 8, 99 and 100, 101 and 102, 221 and 222, 223 and 224 are the 2-sided leaves… 5 leaves.
