Wow… to me his face has hardly changed at all, except for having bigger eyes in his youth, so his identity is obvious…. assuming you’re familiar with him as an adult.
It makes me curious about that very thing.
It’s probably different for everybody, and varies from celebrity to celebrity.
But when you say you don’t know who’s in the picture, does that mean you don’t recognize that person in the more recent picture, either?
Cos just not recognizing celebrities, in general, is totally different from not being able to recognize someone with whose face you are familiar, when he or she was younger.
Looks like it should be a scene in one of those movies, where the animal pals find their way back home, or find their people after being lost on a road trip, or walk together across the country… you know the genre.
One of the most famous books in the genre is “The Incredible Journey” by Sheila Burnford.
If you’ve never read it, chronicles the journey home of:
Ch.(ampion) Boroughcastle Brigadier of Doune (bull terrier / Bodger for short)) , Tao (Siamese cat), and Luath (Labrador retriever).
Disney made two movies based on it. “The Incredible Journey” (1963) and “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey” (1993). I wasn’t impressed with 1963’s interpretation, and until today didn’t know about 1993’s.
I just got my copy from my bookcase to get the names straight, and now it will be the third of my current books on the go.
Today’s Songs:
‘I Fought the Law,’ ‘I Got You Babe,’ ‘I Had Too Much To Dream,’ and ‘I Want You to Want Me,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Asian Coconut Soup.’
I’ve added in a link to the odd circumstances surrounding Bobby Fuller’s death.
The ‘Electric Prunes’ were from the San Fernando Valley.
I know lots of people hate on Sonny Bono, but I think they were a cute couple in the early years. Cher just grew out of that relationship.
Those electric Prunes, are they good for constipation?
Re: “The Electric Prunes” See the third song in my song list on the 20th.
A joke that was making the rounds shortly after Congressman Sonny Bono’s death at the Heavenly Mountain Resort.
I heard in on air on KOA radio out of Denver late at night when I was cruising the dial.
The weather forecast at Heavenly Mountain that day was…
“I Fought the Law” used to be, and probably still is, on the juke box in every dive bar, biker hangout, and topless joint.
It never fades; everybody can sing along… but it’s a famous bar bet, betting that someone can’t tell you who sang this song, which they’ve heard a thousand times.
I don’t hang out in bars, but I’ve won a few trivia challenges with it… a question to keep in your back pocket in case you need one.
Never ran into anybody who answered “The Bobby Fuller Four.”
My wife is a big Cheap Trick fan. She saw them frequently at a local bar where she grew up – the Red Lion Inn in DeKalb, IL. $2 cover to see Cheap Trick (up close), pretty good deal.
I like cabbage, hot or cold, fried, pickled, and as cole slaw (preferably on the tart side, with mayo but for heavens sake NOT sweet stuff like pineapple or marshmallow).
I have little doubt you have your own recipe for Coleslaw, but if you follow this LINK to StelBel’s recipe page, you’ll find my mother’s coleslaw recipe (due to the vagaries of GoComics it’s right at the top).
There are lot’s of other recipes there too (I’m going to have to try happy³ ‘s “NUT LOAF” / I’ve never used rice as a loaf ingredient to date)
Thanks but I’m usually making one serving (albeit a fair sized one) so I don’t bother with a complicated cooked dressing.
I don’t even measure… I chop the cabbage as fine as I can … I prefer that to grated…. pour on a little vinegar, let it sit for a few minutes, and mix in some mayonnaise.
If I happen to have any sour cream or sweet pickle juice, I add a little spoonful.
Nowadays I like it that way even if I make a big bowl for a gathering.
I prefer balsamic vinegar, which turns it a little brown…. if I make it for others I tell them it’s my famous “dirty coleslaw”, and it’s not old😁
My sister would often play “Silhouttes” on the record player. She would get rather upset when I would start laughing about it. Here is this guy, breaking in the front door, all lathered up, demanding an explanation!.
.
Ya know, i really hope that they all get along.
No additional heating necessary there.
Are they all bassets? Fifteen or more.
2 NOSES!
aka daleandkristen
Walkies in shifts? I handled 1 pooch well.
Needs more dogs.
Can you find the 2nd person?
It’s almost but not quite a puzzle!
..
It took me a moment. I didn’t notice the horse at first.
I like this.
Or the undersized net?
No, i saw that.
Russian painter Vladimir Kush
I could not find a title.
Edited in at 10:32 hrs. E.D.T..
It has to be in translation, but the title I found was “Windmill” (makes sense).
Lepidonquixote?
That works!
beautiful!
,
Bob Ross’s side job?
Well, his _voice_ was hypnotic.
“Blacaman”? Subtle. /s

From 1918 and cropped.
Picture is a link.
It looks cold there.
and rainy.
The masks probably feel good. It kept my nose warm in the winter.
Even in a picture promoting masks, one woman has her nose uncovered.
She’s cropped out of Nighthawks’ version.
That could be the reason… though it’s more probably cos the composition is stronger, and the sign legible.
There were protests against masks back then as well, and arguments against them…. but evidence says they did help stop the flu.

purplie…
Hey!
Even a 100% failure rate is 100%.
Same.
Recognized him at once.

Put me in paragraph four.
Thus far anyway.
I thought that he grew into a musician. I was way wrong.
EASY one!
Piece of cake.
C’mon, someone write who it is. I honestly don’t know who most of these are in either picture.
That’s what I asked in my earlier comment.
Anyway, sure…
You and my autocorrect can just duke it out.
It loves putting the “h” back in; you love correcting my typos.
Sigh….

The weather forecast at Heavenly Mountain that day was…
…mostly cloudy but sunny around one tree.

I like mine fried. After the sausage starts browning.
Your sauerkraut?
That might improve it.
I like cabbage, hot or cold, fried, pickled, and as cole slaw (preferably on the tart side, with mayo but for heavens sake NOT sweet stuff like pineapple or marshmallow).
I like pickles, vinegary or brined.
But for some reason, not sauerkraut.

There is a BBQ over in Springfield that features horseradish flavored slaw. Yummy.
The name is Buckinghams, the logo is a cowboy riding a pig.
Almost every state has a Springfield. Am I remembering right that yours is in Missouri?
I love coleslaw, and that sounds kind of interesting… but 2,000 miles might be a bit too far.
Quite so. Nice stop if you and Elvis are ever doing Route 66.
I dislike every other form of cabbage, but I’ll gladly take your sauerkraut.
Wow… great!
If you even hate stuffed cabbage, I win big-time!
The wife likes browned kraut on a hot dog.
Yup! Good choice!
I would not expect Cleo to object to a dead cow.
Same thing I was thinking.
Rotten cow, yeah.
Merely dead is beef.
My thoughts, as well.
I do not agree with whoever’s sense of humour this is.
You realize that’s only one of the varieties?
NOSE!
Hope that’s not our pink polkadot friend!
Quesadillas
I’m not sure about the corn.
I may be wrong but that seems like while people making Mexican food stuff.
Had the same thought.
Nothing inherently wrong with eating “Gringo Mex, as I call mine, as long as it tastes good…. but it doesn’t really illustrate a Mexican dish.
Yup. I do gringo mex. I just mentioned it because i’ve never had one with anything other than cheese. That’s more a pan fried burrito. (Tex-Mex)
