I cannot find anything crediting the illustrator of the cover, but an engineer he (1934 remember) wasn’t.
I can find no direct connection, but a journalist named Paul Mallon was temporarily banned from White House press conferences in 1940.
Today’s Songs:
‘It Ain’t What You Do, It’s the Way That You Do It,’ ‘Itchycoo Park,’ ‘It’s the End of the World as we Know It,’ and ‘Jail House Rock,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe ‘Asian Snow Pea Salad (low carb)’.
The ladies of ‘Bananarama’ didn’t always walk like Egyptians.
There is a link to a Wikipedia article with several origin stories for the name ‘Itchycoo’ park.
The band denies R.E.M. stands for Rapid Eye Movement (William Dement, who coined the term, was told this).
The ‘Purple Gang’ actually existed.
As a side note, while testing this posting I found out placing active links in the spoiler’s title can’t be done (nesting spoiler boxes can’t be done either / I found that out earlier).
I used to feel that way… I know you can’t always connect an artist’s work with his faults, but since I considered him a child molester, I couldn’t stand to even look at Woody Allen.
I’ve always strongly believed that you have to give immense weight to a child’s accusations, to make up for the patronizing attitude of disbelief they sometimes encounter.
However, a lot has come out since then about Mia’s coaching of Dylan, with witnesses, and also from Dylan, though she still believes it. I also saw a couple of interviews with Mia, who, I hate to say, sounds loony.
She hated Woody and wanted to pay him back for Soon Yi… who insists, BTW, that Woody was nothing like a father to her..
Ronan Farrow seems the sanest of the lot, and he’s on Mia’s side, but that doesn’t prove anything.
I don’t say I’ve switched sides, but I’ve decided all I can do is be neutral, and not cancel a person based on what might be ill will, coached accusations and no credible evidence.
I’m envious – no warm water over the next few days (19 flats); the spare parts for the central heating have been ordered, but it will take a while til they arrive. Plus there’s a public holiday next Tuesday (“Tag der Deutschen Einheit”).
Fortunately, we have an “Einkochautomat” with thermostat, electrically heated, with a tap – good for up to 29 liters. That way, I was able to clean the dishes today because we still don’t have a new dishwasher – the washing machine was much more urgent, and doing the dishes isn’t that troublesome anyway. Usually.

Looks a bit like an amusement park ride.
We just saw this in a parking lot last week! But don’t remember which parking lot or where.
Is that a banana you’re sitting on, or are you just happy to see me?

WHICH ORIGIN STORY OF ‘ITCHYCOO PARK’ DO YOU LIKE BEST?
Three excellent “i” songs. Why didn’t you post the video for Jailhouse Rock? It’s pretty amusing.
I don’t like the video (the same one nighthawks posted).
I can’t point to a reason, I just don’t like it.
“Walk like an Egyptian” was The Bangles, not Bananarama.
Fun fact: Siobhan Fahey left Bananarama and formed Shakespears Sister with Marcella Detroit.
Janis and Retha, what a treat!
I liked Midnight in Paris. Unfortunately the women in my family are in Mia Farrow’s camp, so they won’t give it a look.
Thank you; now I know that “invidious” (a mirror for youtube) actually works.
I never did go along with Mia keeping that baby with the horns and tail

From yesterday.
I almost always use coding in my comments so I can format them to my satisfaction.
so from the looks of it, you’re satisfied with spaciness
so to speak
we have a rubber ducky theme in our master bathroom.
thanks!

Mine is lighthouses. It has a shake shingle roof over the tub!
