This image (uploaded from your machine) does work for me, all the others don’t (“comment image” or nothing at all).
Yes; I’ve tried both Firefox and Chromium – no change in my computer’s configuration whatsoever since the last time it worked (I think).
I will try restarting my machine later and blame it on either WordPress or my location in the meantime.
Didn’t reboot, or restart the browser, and now the page is loading correctly and the images are displaying. Must be something to do with either WordPress itself, or one of the Internet nodes having issues.
I’ve always found it interesting that they are known by both: Laurel & Hardy as well as Stan & Ollie. They are the only team I’m aware of that are recognized that way.
You’ve heard it before from me that my kitty, Oliver, is named for Mr. Hardy. I wanted to name his twin littermate brother Stan…..but my son nixed that idea.
interesting that the bird could give as good as it gets, and had that desire, in this tussle. The pup kept getting on top, but birdie kept chasing him down.
I would guess that it’s play as the pigeon has full wings so it could fly off if it wanted. Secondly, the bird is occasionally chasing the puppy, so it’s fairly certain they know each other.
It looks like play because the pup isn’t biting. But my take is it’s a city bird: “You wanna piece a me? You wanna piece a me? I don’t think you’re gonna like it!”
The best version of Barber’s adagio is the original for string quartet.
Simple. Haunting. Beautiful.
I know that it’s supposed to be sad, but i find it ultimately soothing.

That aperture at the base of his neck looks like it’s where the key fits to wind him up.

How could you not be mesmerized by those eyes?

Several images aren’t working for me either, and I can’t try rebooting as I’m archiving files at the moment.
The images are trying to load, but then the page times out and the missing images are replaced with a placeholder and “Comment Image.”
The restart didn’t help.

And Tigressy…
Happens to me all the time cos my internet connection is flaky..
Sometimes it takes 3 page refreshes.
So I tend to blame connection issues first… even tiny disturbances can prevent image loading, since you need 100%.
In my case, I blame it on WordPress – the internet connection here at our home is excellent at the moment.
Detroit-1910
The two men in the foreground could be taken for Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy given their height and build difference.

I’ve actually never heard them called Stan and Ollie, except in the title of a film about them a few years ago.
Sounds like the kind of thing done for TV, so as not to compete with copyrights.
Like “Our Gang” being called “The Little Rascals in syndication, or a local station calling their cartoons “Mickey’s Club.”
I remember hearing both when I was a child (1960’s). I certainly wasn’t around when they were making their movies.

Kinda picky, if it qualifies as a mistake…
But it’s the only one I see…
So I guess…
The two numeral 1’s in the first row have different top serifs.
Don’t ask me which is the “wrong” one for that font… but I think the incorrect one is the mistake.
That’s my take on it, too.
correctomundo
You’re right… one is a small L.
I didn’t realise it, being half asleep.
Also the other doesn’t have the serif I expect for a numeral one either.
At least I found the difference! 😁
You did indeed find it. ☺
as always, thanks, susan.
to me, this appears to be a prediction of the future from more than a century ago.
it’s interesting that they assumed the fashions would never change
Which is funny, because we all knew in the ’60s that in the year 2000 everyone would be wearing silver jumpsuits.
idk
I know who I think it is, cos his face is the same today.
But I can’t tell for sure whether that’s him, or who it is at all, in the later picture.
Could we have one that’s recognizable?
Meanwhile, I’ll go out on a limb and say …
It looks like Brad Pitt.
It also looks amazingly like a picture of his daughter Shiloh, when she was 10 or 12.
Is that him in picture #2?
Hard to believe he was ever part of anything called the Rejects!
…..
BTW my hairstyling fingers are itching to jump back in time and fix that horrible haircut.
Not only is it just cut off around the edges with no style, one side is a good inch longer than the other.
Better!
Still not typical, but recognisable.
Yes….
No idea
Him? Not her?
Him… I was right, earlier.

Yeah, and I have to wonder whether, to the bird, it’s play, self defense, or a preemptive display of power.

Never hurts to also have enough of a nest egg to supplement your income, and stay comfortable in spite of inflation.

Very sad song. The violinist at 7:23 looks to be on the verge of tears.
Don’t worry, I won’t say nuthin bad about your baby!
The second wish is generally “I wish I still had that quarter (or whatever).”
Do your best at all that you do. If you’re wishing, you should be wishing well.
