If you’ve been on a wooden ship for three months away from the sight of land, any sort of land might look like paradise.

From my search:
Gathered for a press conference at the Hotel St. Moritz are stars of the Hollywood War Bond Cavalcade, who made appearances at the big bond rally in Madison Square Garden. Ca 1943.

Rear (l. to r.) James Cagney, Lucille Ball, Fred Astaire, Greer Garson, Paul Henreid, Judy Garland, Betty Hutton, Harpo Marx, Marjorie Stewart.

Front (l. to r.) Sergt. Barney Ross, Kay Kyser, Mickey Rooney, Rosemary La Planche.

To be honest….

I’ve never…
heard of Marjorie Stewart, Sgt Barney Ross or Rosemary La Planche.

Hard fish to show:

The David Smith fish would sink.

The Van Gogh fish would have a bandage over one ear, but fish don’t have ears.

And he couldn’t do a Seurat fish, cos the little dots don’t stay together in the water… they just float away.

Sorry, but I don’t see a star.

Maybe I just haven’t found it yet, but I’ve sure been over it a bunch.

I do see
plenty of five petalled flowers, but I see no reason to call any particular one a star.

I’ll look again later.

Meanwhile, going back to yesterday, I see that a couple of people gave up on finding the five horseshoes.

They aren’t easy to see, and of course, my solution could be wrong…

But in case anyone is still interested

Big hint for YESTERDAY’S horseshoe puzzle:
The horseshoes do look a lot like the kitty’s tails they’re hidden amongst… but their curves are more strictly U-shaped, and they have little “feet” like the serifs on a letter.

Or if you’d rather just see what I found…

The one on top is more of a mule shoe. They are usually in two pieces.

I think it only looks like two pieces cos there’s a tail in front of it.

Also I can’t fully color things in that app, so I didn’t get into that little corner.

We really can’t get that picky with a Dudolf puzzle, unless you see a better horseshoe.

His puzzles are cute… I like all the funny touches… But half the time the animals all resemble each other. Too much to ask that he distinguishes a mule shoe.

Right…. good observation.

That may be the intent but IMHO it’s still not a star.

I don’t have those things either but I’m (sniffle) not a star.

We had a ’65 Tempest… a GTO was basically a more expensive Tempest with a bigger engine and flashier details, or so I’ve been told.

Of course car collectors only want a GTO…. But I gotta tell you, that Tempest was an amazing car.

My then husband and I bought it for something like $500 from a high school kid who got it from his dad, and got into an accident in it. It was only 5 or 6 years old, but had dents and a mismatched door and I think 75,000 miles on it.

I confess that I didn’t drive in those days… my husband did the driving, but we went everywhere together in that car, piling on hundreds of miles a week.

“Only” a slant six, not a V8, but it went uphill and down without complaint, hated going slower than 65 mph, carried amazing loads… we used it like a pickup, buying and selling antiques and vintage clothes… and survived running out of water on a hot day in Sacramento (due to a burst hose) without an engine crack.

Finally somebody stole the radiator (!) while it was parked overnight. We borrowed a friend’s pickup, and kept working, trying to get money to.replace it… and somebody stole the car. Without a radiator. Dents and faded paint and all.

We told the police… they tried not to laugh.

About 5 years later… can’t remember exactly… I was walking along the street by myself, and somebody drove past me in that car. It still had the same mismatched door.

I can’t know, but we thought it was probably different people, cos the thefts were a few weeks apart.

We were very sad, and had to hustle to buy an old pickup.

But by the time it drove past me, my husband and I had split up, but were still friends and partners.

I couldn’t drive; he lived in San Francisco and wouldn’t have wanted it any more.

I actually kinda cheered to see that it was still going.
