The file name says “Outrunning-the-Duster-Steve-Douglass-1926″… so I searched it.

In a reversal of the usual situation, I’d thought it was a painting, but it’s actually a sepia-tone photo from that time.

The “duster” is the big dust storm looming behind the car, darkening the sky in daylight.

Toss the lemon – that’s to mask the taste of meat past its prime.

She’s waiting for the cat version of Sir Walter Raleigh.

Ain’t gonna happen… though a human might come along to help, if she’s willing to suffer the indignity of being carried.

Um…. I’d say it’s an…unusual… way for a brother to portray his sister.

I can’t imagine what she said about him that would make him reply with such overtly unbrotherly imagery.

Then again, Dali was an unusual person.

Don’t think it doesn’t happen.

Not usually steak, on plush green grass… this looks more like a prank. … (Unless, who knows, somebody stole the steaks and the cart, and this is a public park.)

You see them in photos of homeless encampments, more likely just that end of the basket that’s flipped up here, but somehow torn off the cart.

A few years ago, when a lot of homeless lived on the side street near me, there was a supermarket cart sitting out there one day. I called the store, and they said they no longer send people to pick up carts.

They don’t even offer the $50 they used to give people for bringing them in, not that I could have done that… They think too many were stolen just to claim the reward, and others were too damaged to want back.

Anyway, a few days later, I saw that somebody had built a fire in it, not on its side, just sitting on its wheels, outside the wide gate that closes up the thrift store parking area at night. They apparently tried to burn some furniture left there, probably to try to keep warm. Then they just left it.

(There’s a big sign asking people not to drop off donations there, but they do anyway. Sometimes just to dispose of them )

Certainly there must be something magical about that turtle’s face to those butterflies.

Turtles love sunbathing – but the insides of their mouths are still wet.

The photo, or gif, is called “Butterflies for Turtle Teardrops”.

I didn’t know turtles had teardrops… and isn’t this guy a tortoise?

I couldn’t decide whether they’re feet or flippers.. they look kind of halfway in between.
