She’s fake.

One reason she looks child like is that her face is too big for her body, which gives her.more of a child’s proportions.

Selling as prints on Etsy, where it says “generated with AI, professionally edited”. Whatever that means. is it better than unprofessionally edited?

I saw it on a few sites where they think it’s real… but it’s so obviously not. The face and hair and makeup are right out of a recent magazine.

The dress is a pretty good job… a bit bedraggled,… but the bra like top is way too modern.

I’m so sick of pictures of modern, pretty girls, masquerading as vintage.

Not that everybody has to post vintage pictures. I’m just not into fake, or sexy models.

I did recognize him… but I also think he has one of those faces you just know you saw someplace …

This is….
Comedian and actor Paul Lynde, when he was still quite young, ie years before his time on Bewitched and then Hollywood Squares…
with his basset hounds, Orville and Wilbur, in his apartment in Greenwich Village, New York City.

I think I remember getting gum out of an 1886 machine once. (No, it wasn’t new then…)

That 1956 machine has a big 10 on the front, so maybe it says 10 cents, or maybe 10 ounces.

But I absolutely remember Cokes in the early 1960s coming in those old fashioned… um… I can only say Coke-bottle-shaped glass bottles, 6½ ounces, which was all the soda a person usually drank back then.

In most vending machines, which still looked like that 1956 picture, they were 5¢, though they cost about a penny more at the grocery store.

Then my school got a machine that looked like the one labelled 1965… We were outraged cos the drinks were 10 cents. But they were also 10 ounces. Who could drink 10 ounces? So sometimes you could split one with a friend.

By the 1980s they were already I think 50 cents, no more bottles, and people were used to drinking a whole 12 ounce can.

In about 1984, I was with a then boyfriend, who was driving up Highway 99, the old, less travelled route up the middle of California.

It was well before dawn… we’d been driving for hours, trying to find Galt, a town on 99 reputed to have a huge weekday flea market.
We finally found it, desperate for coffee, but everything was closed.

There was a big gas station, also closed, but with a coke machine out front. In my memory it looked like the one that says 1990, but the front was rounded.

My boyfriend got out to get us Cokes… I heard him laughing, then he called to me to come get my own.

That machine talked!

In the middle of nowhere, at about 4am… It said “Hi, I’m Bob, your talking Coke machine!”

We must have bought 4 cans, just to hear it talk.

Back home, I told people about it… they acted like I was crazy. Finally ONE person had seen another one, in San Francisco, but she said it didn’t have a name.

Poor Bob. Stuck in Galt, of all places. He could’ve been a star!

I once stopped at Horseshoe Canyon outside of Calgary AB. The view was the same, except you could clearly see farmhouses and horses on the other side!

This reminds me of one of my all time favorite songs…..

Here’s Bernard Cribbins, around 1961 (though I didn’t hear it till 20+ years later)

There are other videos of it out there… Usually I don’t choose the ones that just show a record, or a label… but I don’t like the ones that attempt to picture whatever they’re moving. It’s much funnier, IMHO, just imagined.

If I probably still have a mostly dried up bottle of it in a box somewhere, am I older than old?

Especially since I miss it?

It’s the best thing for envelopes that don’t seal and stickers that fall off… not a big mess like tape or Elmer’s glue, and really cheap, not like the glue pens I have now, that dry up and won’t work any more.

I suspect a large amount of alcohol was involved. And that their wives and kids were less than pleased with the outcome (so were they when the hangover wore off).
