The file name labels it a beach in China. So do a ton of websites.
However… several fact-checking sites say it’s not.
In fact, a couple of sites, along with a French newspaper, say that calling it a Chinese beach started as a rather racist meme.
It’s actually Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and this is not a daily occurrence.
But here it splits…
Some say it’s a free Rod Stewart concert, New Year’s Eve, 1994, which drew 3.5 to 4.5 million people to the beach, and which still holds the Guinness World Record for the largest ever free rock concert attendance. Some say that the figure is inaccurate, because it includes the over a million people who come to the beach every New Year’s Eve for the free fireworks.
Others say it’s the attendance on World Youth Day, 2013, when about 3.5 million people flocked to the beach to hear Pope Francis, at the end of his first world tour as pontiff, say mass to a huge Catholic youth gathering.
Two events, and real pictures of both are too similar to tell apart.
The picture is in daylight, and Rod Stewart’s concert was at night, in December, which could mean it’s the Pope… then again, people waited all day for both.
This is Benjamin A. Hawley, Vice-President of the American Hardware Corporation, New Britain, Connecticut, October, 1916.
He has gathered neighborhood kids for a ride in his new 1916 Hudson.

In his will Benjamin Hawley bequeathed $150,000 to the New Britain Institute, which includes the New Britain Public Library. With it, they built the Hawley Memorial Children’s Library on High Street.
This Almanac was credited Davy Crockett’s heirs, according to the cover, and apparently inside to his “estate”, and was a major influence in fueling the myths surrounding his story.
He was already what we today would call a celebrity when he died fighting at the Alamo in early 1836. This 1837 book is already No. 3.
Those heirs jumped immediately on that opportunity, not only to polish his legend, and, as they claimed, to ensure his place in history, but also to capitalize on his fame.
This pictures him in a coonskin cap, an essential part of his lore, though historians say he probably never wore one. In fact the idea may come from these almanacs.
Grinning down bears, feats of strength, even buckskin clothing… the whole woodsy image later portrayed by Fess Parker for Disney, and copied in plastic leather and fake racoon caps by a generation of schoolboys, was partially recorded here.
And I hate to say it… but…. «shhhh» ….. some of it may not have been exactly true.
Mmmm…love sauerkraut. With sausage. Or even beef franks if that’s all I have. One of my favorite pizzas was “Bavarian Special” – Polish sausage and sauerkraut. But the local pizza place dropped it from the menu 🙁

Good guess… But the Gilbreth children weren’t all so close in age.
Here they are in 1923, which means some weren’t born yet in 1916, and of course, thise who were, were all 7 years younger.
