Honestly, though, this could have been today’s cartoon, on its own… it’s one of my favorite strips (I will admit to my favorites list not being a terribly short one.)
I love both this and the logo, for their gathering of basset heroes, and the great artwork… But this has the bonus of being very funny.
Yeah, that 2-minute “trim” will cost you $60 plus the obligatory tip. Now if you’re looking for a full, cut, color, curl, blowout and facial, that’s gonna cost you a tiny bit more.
I look at the house and say, “Good, it has a basement. I can start with jacks and rebuilding the foundation, then upgrade the first floor joists before we start to tackle the upper stories. My initial estimate is $500,000, but it depends on what we find when we get into it. We can start in 3 months, and I’ll need a $50,000 down payment.
I’m not sure how it works… But it was a car and motorcycle race, from Parma-Poggio to Berceto, May 1924.
All the sites where I found it were selling it, and wanted to tell me about the nice paper they were using, or the mailing tube, and nothing about the race.

Wow, I’ve never seen penguins taken out of their enclosures, or as they like to call them, habitats… as if the penguins wouldn’t rather inhabit their wild, natural homes.
And yeah, it’s the flipper-holding I was questioning. I’d think the poor bird wouldn’t be thrilled.

Whew! Made it! Susan, next time I come running after you, waving my arms and shouting Hodeedoh! Hodeedoh! please realize that I’m not trying to scare you! That “Squeak!” as you jabbed at the button, was funny and I suppose it kept you safe from this apparition, but it sure made it tougher getting down to the end.
Looking at it again, I realize that if we’re in scale with the various little stairways, there’s no way down from where the start sign is placed.
So in reality, you and I and everyone else starting there would just be sitting up on the roof chatting, until we gave up and went home.
Similarly, trying it in reverse, by entering at the exit…
the only real path leads to s few routes downward, mostly to an unmarked exit…. unless we’re expected to either scale a low wall, or jump off a trestle onto a lower path.
So I’m sorry if I startled you, but I really needed the elevator… If I somehow got to the door.

This lucky little girl got to walk around the London Zool, in 1937, holding hands … er.. flippers… with a penguin.
I didn’t find out how she got the privilege, but in looking, I saw a couple of pictures of other girls doing it.
Maybe it was just something you got to do at the London Zoo.
I wonder what the penguins thought.
The penguins at some zoos are walked regularly outside their enclosed area whenever the weather agrees with them.
