In case you live in a country, or on a planet, where these ladies are unfamiliar…
they are…
The stars of “The Golden Girls”…clockwise from left… Estelle Getty, as Sophia, Bea Arthur, as Dorothy, Betty White, as Rose, and Rue McClanahan, as. Blanche.
Trivia…
Sophia was Dorothy’s mother. The other three were supposed to be similar in age.
In reality, Betty White and Bea Arthur were both about a year older than Estelle Getty, who wore wigs and makeup to try to look about 20 or 25 years older than her “daughter”… and Rue McClanahan was about 12 years younger than the rest of them.
Whoa… she’ll be sending them eviction notices soon.
At about 6 or 7″ is when they start living on their own… And before you know it, the females will be in this situation themselves.
They don’t live long… a year or two… so they reproduce copiously.
We have them around here and I’ve heard neighbors say they hate them.
No need to hate possums… they’re not pests, they eat mice and bugs. They almost never carry rabies and they don’t bite unless you corner one, and you shouldn’t.
We have mixed recycling now, in wheeled.blue plastic garbage cans… but years ago, we could put out cans in a cardboard box. I discovered a baby possum that seemed to be living in the dog food cans. Apparently “empty” is on a different scale to a little possum.
I didn’t know whether it needed help so I called the wildlife rescue… They said if it’s 6″ long, not counting the tail, it’ll be fine. It looked about that big, so I let it be.. and soon it moved on. But that’s why I know when they’re considered grown.
Mostly.not gonna argue with these… though sometimes I wish tourists would know the difference between Southern CA… the beaches and palm trees, surfing, orange groves and Hollywood… and Northern, with vineyards and redwoods, and San Francisco.
We did just have a long heat wave, which I hate… 10 days of temps over 90°, a few were 101… but mostly it’s not that hot, and even if it is, it’s 50° at night..
A lot of summer tourists think they’re going to go wine tasting and then hang out at the beach.
They don’t even bring long sleeved shirts… Then they find out wine tasting is 30 to 50 miles from the coast, which is 50° on a bright summer day, rocky and steep, with dangerous waves, and no snack bar.
I’ve never had a bread bowl of clam chowder… I think it’s a tourist trap restaurant thing. Old VW vans are dying out… And I wish In ‘n Out burgers looked like that!
Probably lots of things work, if they’re going to be cute and not use proper mathematical symbols or methods, and just let us guess what they’re thinking.
Does look like the style of a Victorian era portrait photograph, which probably threw you a bit.
I would have it as a large portrait on my wall, but were I would want to hang it I presently have a very regal-looking picture of a cat, and I’m not moving it.
Hey More_Cats, you had a bit of a time with A-fib the other day. How are you doing? Would a pacemaker help?
Of course your answer can always be MYOB, but people in this community do tend to check in on each other.
No worries Arfside. I’m doing OK, things got back to normal after about 19 hours, longer than they normally go for, but it started at a time when I had to wait before I could take a betablocker. I’d taken my normal daily one at 08:00, and the earliest I could take another one was at 18:00 (6pm) (Two in any 24hr period, no closer than 10hrs apart). If things hadn’t settled before I had to take a third one, then it was going to be a trip to the ER.
I’ve been referred to a cardiologist, and recently had the confirmation of that, but no date set for the consultation. A pacemaker might be in my future, but I suspect that it’s more likely that they’ll perform an ablation of the nerves of the heart that are causing the issue. I’ll find out in due course.

This is a great animation!
Better than the human movie, I’m sure. (If it’s not I’ll never know.)
I love Father Crass asking for the day off. I would too!
Funny thing.
I can see the video up top, but i can never see the puzzles.
On my laptop. I can always see the top post on my phone.

At least THIS baby doesn’t need an exorcist…well, no more than any “normal” basset hound…

Now if I ever see the movie (doubtful), I’ll know where I am… Though they could have marked a few hiding places, so I’d feel safer.

He’s not following the score at all!
He’s only a puppy… he doesn’t know the score.
what’s wrong with this picture?
The big frog isn’t trying to eat the small frogs.

No wonder mom’s always exhausted.

Don’t get yourself fooled; they may look dead after two years, but – well, you know – possums.

How tall is that building?
Yeah, he’s been climbing those stairs since yesterday. I hope there are candles stashed at many of the landings so he won’t run out of light.

Wotta schlemiel.
How does one even…. oh, never mind. If there’s a way, someone will.

I get a different answer.
That’s what I get too.
(9×4)+5 = 41, (8×3)+5 = 29…. (7×5)+5 = 40
Don’t ask me why we add 5… it’s just what works in the examples.
(8 x 3) + (8 – 3) = 29
(7 x 5) + (7 – 5) = 37
Yeah, that works too.

I’ve recognized her instantly.
I did too when I first saw the picture, and I thought it would be a good one for here.
Wedge-tailed Green-Pigeon, found across the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia.

Gosh…. wishing you well with all that!
