Nah…. Not her old age… I think she was 50-ish. A mere child.
Coincidentally, I read something about this just the other day… she made a movie in the 80s with wild African lions, and her daughter Melanie Griffith, a teenager at the time, was attacked by one.
Someone else on the film was badly hurt.
Then she started a wild animal preserve in California, and lived there, letting certain lions wander through her home.
Melanie said, in this article, that she was terrified the whole time, and Tippi said it was the dumbest mistake she ever made.
She still has the animal sanctuary, mostly for big cats, and lives on the property, but for years, the animals have been fenced off from human contact, and she campaigns against keeping wild animals as pets.i don’t know what happened to change her mind.
Melanie and her daughter, Dakota Johnson, still help run it. Tippi is 94 and I think has Alzheimer’s now.
I’ve seen something like that a couple of years ago…
Caught the kitty, put it in our kitchen (our late cat hated other cats!) and called the animal shelter.
The cat was reunited with the owners shortly afterwards!
What had happened? There’s an S-Bahn-station nearby and kitty had gotten up at the wrong end…
Are you seeing something in the picture beyond a stray cat, or one that was allowed outside?
Or are there so few stray cats in Germany that the animal shelters are interested in every one?
Cos I just see it as a photo of a cat looking at its reflection in a puddle, not necessarily needing rescue, and shelters here don’t respond to news of a stray cat, because there are so many. You have to bring them in.
I don’t understand your last sentence about getting up at the wrong end.
Maybe I’m missing something.
The water in the puddle here was dirty (oily). That cat was desperate.
Yes; there are few stray cats. And the fact that one wasn’t shy and happy to be caught told me not a stray.
There are exits at the very long S-Bahn-stations at both ends where the trains stop. Rails right and left. The owners live at the other end from us, the cat took the wrong exit at a stroll.
My little dog always had a bowl of fresh water in the kitchen .. but on a walk, she’d try to taste every puddle, though I’d pull her away.
And a big grey tomcat used to come into my little patio and drink from the flower pot saucers.
I was worried about the fertilizer in it.
I eventually put out a bowl of water for him, but he ignored it. After asking around, I found his owner… She said he ignored fresh water at home, too.
Meanwhile my dog much preferred drinking the water I put outside for the cat, even though it was exactly the same, so after the cat moved away, I still put water out there
Okay… I guess I have to be “that guy” again…. But come on!
A drive-in where….. the cars are all almost identical, or at least look like the same year, around 1951, and most have the same exact mark… one that isn’t quite any car logo you recognize?
There’s a bright neon sign in front of the screen?
Some cars are parked behind a huge, brightly lit snack bar, bigger than any snack bar I’ve ever seen, and way brighter than the movie, which they can’t see anyway?
A few dozen, relatively identical customers are standing like zombies, staring at the bright windows, but there doesn’t seem to be a line, or even an order window, or a door?
And I just noticed, about those cars…They get smaller and smaller in the distance, as though there are thousands, till they’re packed in like tiny sardines near the screen, but the lot isn’t that big.
A drive-in screen was maybe 50 or 60 feet wide … If those are cars down there, this one is 150 feet tall.
Of course, if the ice cream is still frozen, there’s a chance it’s not ancient. To me, though, a chance isn’t quite good enough. I mean, the definitions of words like “edible”, “safe” and “contaminated” are much different in a human dictionary and a canine one.
Maybe, just 20 minutes ago, that cart was out on a corner downtown, selling perfectly good ice cream to humans.
But maybe not.
I don’t think ice cream vendors readily hand over their carts to basset hounds, on any sort of regular basis… so I’ll be slowly backing away from this offer.
Anyway, some changes have been made… you can see them with your own eyes. At least I hope you can, because it’s your job to inspect it.
I can’t help being reminded of that Cheech and Chong movie, maybe one of two I ever saw, where they’re driving an old ice cream truck, blatantly selling their illicit merchandise.
They made an even more obvious change to their vehicle…. turning “Ice Creams” to the title of the movie… “Nice Dreams”.
A little Cheech and Chong goes a long way… but I’ve always thought that was funny.

Wow…
Come here often?

“S-Bahn-station”
My new word-of-the-day.
Google is my Friend…

I hate seeing any animal drinking from a puddle around a road. So many toxic chemicals.
Yeah, me too… But some insist.

This is the cover of the King Crimson album, The Night Watch… an original painting by P. J. Crook, also entitled “The Nightwatch.”

Sigh…
to me the biggest obvious AI screwup is the fact that there’s no exit or entrance lanes—-how do cars enter or leave?
So, why do I post them?
If it’s colorful, I’ll post damn near anything

This is a set-up, obviously. But there are some people …
Very talented guy.
We’ve seen him before…
If houses aren’t falling on him, he’s falling off houses.
And doing it all himself, much to the consternation of the studio bosses.
This is from the short comedy “One Week.”
and yet he died an old man
Yeah… Nobody saw that coming!
Boy, does he ever have fast reflexes…
To toss that handsaw away at just the last milli-second, that’s a real talent!

Claude should know Cleo’s never telling.
But when it comes to food, I’d be asking too.
