There’s my Cinnamon dog, (or a close cousin). We miss her…and our Max, too. Have to borrow my son’s dogs once in awhile.

Yes, in 1942.

She was …
barely 16 years old, and being introduced to the officers of her regiment.

About two months previously, she’d been named Colonel of the Grenadier Guards.

This was unrelated to her actual military rank during her later war service with the ATS.

That’s my soon-to-be QUEEN OF THE (MY) REALMS, may the Creator rest her soul, gently.
My thoughts of her successor are still pending…

I’m probably too late, I couldn’t get back here earlier…

But these women are actually  actors dressed as nuns, having a cigarette break during the Walmer Castle pageant in Kent, in the early 1950s.

I saw it credited to three different photographers, two of whom are supposedly offering the original for sale. Be careful out there.

Yeah…. I totally know that expression! Yucky hair on the tongue.

But honestly… what do you expect if you’re gonna go around licking lions?

But…but…but…where are the roads? The skyscrapers? The cities?

Pointing north, away from San Francisco, towards the Marin headlands….

It’s 1934, before the cables were hung and the roadway hung from them. The bridge won’t open for about another three years.

The road will be high above the water, and won’t touch land till past the empty spot you see.

Sausalito wasn’t and isn’t a city with skyscrapers, but a seaside town, smaller then, and it’s snuggled between the hills you can see.

Love Sausalito. When Mom and have time in the city we take the ferry over and walk the shops, sit by the bay, have a nice lunch, etc. But then there’s the six hour drive home.

The beginnings of the

Brat Pack…
Though some were less associated with that label. From top left clockwise around the circle: Ralph Macchio, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Tom Cruise, C. Thomas Howell, and Matt Dillon, with Emilio Estevez in the middle.

On the set of…

The Outsiders in 1983

Smart kitty!

So many never figure that out.
They start down head first, freak out, cling, and cry to be rescued.

Our local fire department has a hard enough time covering fires, and will no longer rescue cats. They say a cat will come down eventually… And I suppose that’s true, because I don’t usually see any cats on the telephone poles or in the trees.

Years ago, I lived in one of a group of cabins, on a road that climbed a hill among very tall redwoods. A lot of branches were level with our windows; the bottoms of the trunks were way down the hill

A cat we were temporarily taking care of unexpectedly jumped into a tree from our open kitchen window, trying to catch a bird. He sat there, apparently unwilling to go down backwards or head first…. so he walked out a branch, trying to get back to the house, and plummeted about 25 feet to the bottom of the hill, when it got too thin to hold his weight.

We saw him hit the ground and run, so luckily, he wasn’t broken… But it took hours to find him.

Okay … I think this has to be…

the panda….

But….
He’s missing the big black patches around his eyes that make pandas look like pandas.

And what is that long thing hanging out of (or maybe simply below) his mouth? My eyes keep trying to figure out whether it says something, but I don’t think it actually does
