Today’s dog haiku:

Dig under fence – why?
Because it’s there. Because it’s
There. Because it’s there.

It actually looks as though he might be running back to safety with his human.

Some dogs are runners; some are clingers.

And some run till they realize it’s scary to get too far from Daddy.

The dog simply saw that there was a wedding going on, and wanted to add its own best fishes and felicitations to the bride.

Looks like a wedding to me, too.
Who wears a birthday gown?

Unless it’s a quinceanera, but she looks a bit older than that. Could be, though.

Yup… it’s a quinceanera.

I googled it, and that’s what all the results said.

Looking at the lighting, the few guests, wearing torn jeans, and the empty tables full of plastic bottles, I’d say it might be a rehearsal, or a photo session…

But all the sites were in Spanish, and I could only halfway read them.

According to the filename, it’s legendary character actors…. But yeah, that means usually sidekicks and 2nd bananas.

A few sometimes got to be first bananas 😀

I searched for a list but haven’t found one yet, and it’s bedtime.

I recognize a few …

like….
the obvious ones, Chill Wills, Gabby Hayes, and Andy Devine.

The 2nd guy is Pedro Armen-something… I never remember his name correctly.

I think I see Victor McClagen(sic?) and John Carradine, who were both top bananas at some point… But the images are tiny and my eyes are tired.

Well, I’m sure you all know

his name is…
Bond. James Bond.

This is from….
“Thunderball”, 1965, where Bond, played by Sean Connery, is playing cards with his deadly enemy Emilio Largo, played by Adolfo Celi (with the eye patch). Between them is Claudine Auger as Domino Derval.

Plus,

I think,
over Largo’s left shoulder, in the background, is his hatchet man, Vargas. Vargas ends up on the wrong side of a speargun.

Leda and her swan?

Legendary… and I mean it… prima ballerina Anna Pavlova, with her pet swan, Jack, in 1927.

Pavlova was actually one of my childhood idols, even though she was long gone.

She kept a small lake and several swans at her home, but Jack was known to be her favorite.

Long associated with her famous dual role in Swan Lake, she said that she loved to spend time with the swans to study their movements.

Cathedral Gorge is made up of weathered bentonite clay. It was formed from volcanic ash mixing with lake sediments that was then exposed to erosion over the last five million years. Cathedral Gorge State Park, Nevada, 07 Apr 2013.

Beautiful. Looks like something that would have inspired Gaudi… But it’s not likely that he ever saw it.

Kinda wish there were a person or an animal, for scale.

Could be two people in the distance, on the left…. or a couple of tall trees.

Hey the wishing well isn’t lying or scamming.

There’s no sign advertising a price or a result.

You threw money in, with no promise of anything in return.
You wished for something; it acknowledged your wish.

Whaddya want for a quarter?

Maybe… but this is Claude we’re talking about

I may have been giving him more credit than he deserved, not less.

More likely half a dime… And maybe plugged.
