just an illustration—nobody would have any motive to trim a basset’s ears.
but in my doggie’s case , one ear is about an inch and a half shorter due to
an unfortunate dog attack last summer.
The hood was definitely cut. But I can accept the tree being 30-50yrs old. It’s possible that the truck was abandoned without engine or hood and the tree grew through the open engine bay; later someone found a hood (or the hood had been nearby) so they cut the hood and added it. I don’t know what kind of tree it is, but we have some pretty fast growing maples about that size.
I’m with Susan.
Just the way the windshield and hood do not align I’d be willing to bet the truck is cut to fit the tree trunk into prepared hood cuts.
It’s a 1955 Ford F – 100 1/2 ton.
probably smiling at keeping her charges properly subdued…
after all, being the supreme antagonist in this movie, she couldn’t twirly her mustache but she could smile viciously
That is a cigarette Marjorie is holding in her left hand. There is a pack of cigs and a book of matches immediately available on the table in front of her. A public health nurse in 1943, during the height of WW II. I guess the word stress pretty well defined everyone’s life at the time.

My tongue shows what I think of your idea.

His ears look trimmed…. And the right one shorter.
I hope not!

Awww…
Poor guy.
..
Been parked awhile, has it?
Something odd about this.
If the tree grew there, it can’t possibly be more than about 70 years old….
And THAT’S only if the truck sat in that spot since it was brand new.
…
A 50s (Ford?) pickup usually ran for at least 25 years, and some are still running today.
It looks like this one has no wheels … probably pretty old when it was left there.
If it was 30 years old when it was abandoned, the tree would only be about 40 now.
…
Not only does it look older than that… how did it make those straight, symmetrical cuts in the hood?
How did it push through as a sapling, and still grow tall and straight, never pushing the truck out of line?
Somebody’s playing us.
I don’t know how they did it, but for my money, somebody did it.
Thanks for your reply about Nina Leen’s photograph yesterday.

Regarding the hood misalignment with the windshield, it’s actually much better aligned than I would expect if this had been a natural occurrence.

A short biography of RENE SCHUTE and more of his works.
Yikes!
♥ this one

Two great acting performances.
The fishing boat scene was filmed here in Depoe Bay.
The one where they go out under the bridge.
I don’t remember Nurse Ratched ever looking that friendly.
Might be time to watch the movie again.

Nobody, or almost nobody, in 1943 thought there was any reason not to smoke.
Soldiers rations included cigarettes, and teacher’s lounge rooms were full of ashtrays.
Tobacco companies ran ads in glossy magazines with doctor’s endorsements for various brands.
“Smoke ’em if you got ’em” ….
You didn’t have to be stressed.
Luckys!
yeah,LSMFT Luck Strike means fine tobacco ……or as they interpreted it in Texas when I took basic military training there:
‘Lord save me from Texas’
find a heart
Yep.
That’s the online solution.
Nope. Not tonight.

He only wants to go hang out with his pal Fluffy.
Of course, Fluffy can’t be bothered to go that way instead.
And how is your day going?
Ouch. 🙁
Why is that amusing?
It’s a guy thing.
We sympathise (and cringe), but are thinking “Better you than me.”
Cook it?
You can’t FIND seafood fresher than what we serve!
A restaurant for suckers.
And BTW a rare episode of Cleo minus Cleo.
She must have been working behind the camera that day.
She must be operating the remote for the tentacle.
