I think this is the one we all associate with Fleetwood Mac. But my, they had a complicated history of people joining and leaving, and breaking up within the group.
I’m so glad you enjoyed them, ML ! Sometime, you might want to play the whole album on YouTube…..I’d bet that there’d be a couple songs that you’re familiar with, but maybe didn’t know who did them. I chose live performances, but the studio versions are usually the ones that people are used to hearing, as well.
Anyway, thanks for checking the videos out, and of course, as usual, your kind words!!!
I have to keep reminding myself that these pictures are not coming from some desert on Earth, but from a whole other planet! Thanks for posting, Happy!!
Good morning, Cleo family… or good evening to those already here… it’s still Monday night right now to me.
Time to give this beautiful album another spin… thanks to the videos.
What a nice cover, Stel!
…
Such slender(ish), graceful(ish) basset hounds… well, you work with what you’ve got, right?… it has a poetic charm to it.
The beautiful Stevie Nips was apparently dressed in character as a Welsh dogwitch…
but that was for a hit song she wrote and sang… um… on their previous album, rather than this one…. “Rhiannadog.”
I guess she really liked the costume.
…
Meanwhile, Fleetbasset’s job was to stand there looking impossibly tall and… let’s just say it… sexy… for a basset hound.
You can tell that the human male feels inadequate to his canine counterpart, by his attempt to copy certain… um… personal basset hound attributes.
….
Ah…. nostalgia…. even if they ARE trying to remind us that “Yesterday’s Gone.”
Oh, such lovely howling…partially inspired, we now know, by all three couples in the band being in the middle of breaking up…
…
Especially nostalgic for me, personally…. As I’ve related before…
because while at first I wasn’t a big Fleetbasset Machound fan… being more into the more rock sound of the likes of the Ra-bones….
about a year after it came out, I traveled to Guatemala, where “Rhiannadog” was playing on EVERY jukebox in every little bar and restaurant…
After I’d been there only a week or two, “Rumors” reached them…
and soon it was “Dreams” instead, which the humans are attempting in the first video above… that became the soundtrack for my 2 month trip.
“Players only love you when they’re plaaaying ♫ ♪ ♫ “…
…
And of course, while staying in rustic, magical little towns, around gorgeous Lake Atitlan, with the travelling boyfriend I’d flown there to meet up with…
WE broke up, too.
When I got home, “Go Your Own Way” became MY soundtrack for that summer.
…
Once again, I can’t find a link to the dogs… probably copyright issues…
I spent time in at least 4 villages around the lake…
Never made it to the rest of Guatemala, except for having to fly in and out via Guatemala City…
and during the hours-long, somewhat primitive, bus ride in between…
Which I had to make one additional time in the middle of my visit.
…
It was a LONG time ago. Dunno if it would still be the same.
The buses were old fashioned Bluebird school bus models, mostly blue instead of yellow… 2 hard “leatherette” seats on each side of a narrow aisle.
No bathrooms, lights, air conditioning, or seat belts.
A rail around the roof, where all the luggage, baskets, and a chicken cage or two were thrown and secured with ropes.
…
A board was placed between the two rear seats, and 4 passengers seated, then a 5th person sat on the board.
Then another board was stretched between the next two seats, and another 5 people were seated… And the next, and the next… The seats filled, and the aisle blocked, as far forward as there were passengers to fill them.
If there were children or even tiny adults, they might be placed 3 in a seat or two on the board.
The front of the bus was left empty to accommodate more passengers along the way.
…
There were no tickets.. all the fares were passed forward one by one through all the hands between passenger and driver, and change passed back if needed. I never saw anyone cause a problem.
…
Sometimes, someone had to get off, or we got a bathroom break in a tiny village or primitive gas station… the bus unloaded row by row, each board removed for the row behind.
Then we were loaded on again… Often in a different seat, families and couples holding hands to be seated together.
The driver knew which passengers had just gotten on, and their fares were passed forward.
I had a board seat for hours on my final trip back to Guatemala City. No cushion or seat back.
Good thing I was fairly young!
…
But it was wonderful in the lake villages.
Simple… Maybe a light bulb, maybe candles… Sometimes a folding kerosene 1 or 2 burner cookstove.
In some places no bed, cos you were supposed to have your own hammock and blanket… And towels, plates, spoons and forks.
Somehow you didn’t miss things.
…
Santiago Atitlan, with stone walls along the streets, and wonderful, friendly people, chirping in their Mayan language.
3 weeks in Panahachel, where so many hippies had moved that the locals called the town “Gringotenango”… (“ternango” being a common ending for village names.)
But everyone got along. The hippies wore Gringotenango t shirts.
…
It’s the only place I’ve ever been where the postcards are not as colorful as reality.
It’s always frustrating not to be able to find the Basset versions, but at least the humans can give you an idea of how good the songs were.
…………
Ms. Nips seemed to like those vintage-styled, wispy, lacy, flowy dresses, didn’t she? And, often (although not always) in black! She had a look all her own!
………….
It’s amazing how music can often transport us right back to a particular point in time in our lives. Thank Dog for YouTube!!!!!!
………….
Thanks again for your ever-enjoyable comments!!!! I always look forward to them!
That looks just like the one who jumped over the fence into our backyard years ago. I was terrified that he’d end up in the pool, so I went out to chase him out of the yard……
…..and, right into the neighbor’s backyard (although, not intentionally)!
No harm nor foul: he jumped over their fence and bounded down to the river. A very exciting 10 minutes!!!
The chick circled in red, 5 bees in blue, one may-bee in purple, but I think it looks more like a butterfly.
The program I used to do it on my tablet made it smaller to look at… I’m couldn’t see one blurry thing I thought might have been another bee yesterday.
[human version]
One of my top 10 albums. 🙂
I think this is the one we all associate with Fleetwood Mac. But my, they had a complicated history of people joining and leaving, and breaking up within the group.
Oh, yeah. The early band wasn’t given enough attention by the radio stations in their day. I really didn’t learn about them until my 30s. Great blues!
Ain’t that the truth!
I never paid attention to Fleetwood Mac before. Not bad. I guess if Stel hadn’t put the videos there, I would still not know.
I’m still learning by reading the comics!
I’m so glad you enjoyed them, ML ! Sometime, you might want to play the whole album on YouTube…..I’d bet that there’d be a couple songs that you’re familiar with, but maybe didn’t know who did them. i’ll check them out.
Mine, too.
The arrogance of the male basset is well drawn. But I love the twinkle in the purplie eyes of the Lady Basset.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Dennis!!!
Private message to Stel Bel
I thought you could do a take-off called Pun Crazy, featuring a certain Sunny character. What do you think?
thanks for posting, Hap!
What if we sent a rover to Mars to explore the terrain.
What if we attached some cameras.
What if we sent a helicopter along.
What if we could send cameras on that copter.
Nah. Too futuristic………..
I have to keep reminding myself that these pictures are not coming from some desert on Earth, but from a whole other planet! Thanks for posting, Happy!!

Indeed it is!!

I can see why these songs have so much meaning for you, Susan. Lots of memories.
And there’s this…
I almost posted “Go Your Own Way” last night! That is, until I came across “Tusk“, which was always my go-to favorite!
I have been to Guatemala, including Lake Atitlan. Gorgeous indeed.
Antigua was interesting too.
P.S. They drive like Mexicans in Guatemala.
and here all this time I thought the Mexicans drove like Guatemalans

Bluest sky I’ve ever seen.

Whoa! What a full rack!!
You should have seen him before he was allowed to grow out his pixie cut…
If I said that to a lady I’d get a punch in the face!
I thought of that after i posted it. (she blushes)
😀
😄😄😄

Just as I was thinking the version with the USC Trojan band was better …
The USC Trojan band showed up.
You HAVE to have the USC band for back-up for that song!!!!!
They are mysteriously silent, so I’ll have to take your word.
They are….in the photo, but they can be seen and heard in the “Tusk” video! (or am I misunderstanding you?)
From yesterday…
Just because Stel asked…
The program I used to do it on my tablet made it smaller to look at… I’m couldn’t see one blurry thing I thought might have been another bee yesterday.
Thanks, Susan! I missed the 1 (or 2) bees to the left. Fun!
Yes; that’s what I’ve got, too.
And sent to StelBel.
And, thanks again, Tigressy!!
Hey! I got ’em all (not like Saturday :o( )
We’ll all do better this Saturday, I’m sure!
I counted the purply one as a bee. To bee or not to bee…
LOL
Thanks, Susan!! I never would have found that chick on my own!
Good morning Balladeers, (((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles in concert! Best event I EVER ATTENDED! “Back in the day”, sigh.
Wow!! Two SUPERSTAR bands! How lucky you were!
All I can say is I never saw such tall and slender bassets! And the gli glit glittery eyes. Takes my breath away!
Thanks, ML !!
Hard to distinguish between the two posters, but the Basset poster is really great and glittery! That poster could cause some rumors, for sure!
Ha ha! Thanks, PC! My lips are sealed!
…
It’s gonna be one of the last 90 degree days of the year here today (hopefully). That is going to look pretty nice in a few hours.
….and, will even taste better!
How do you know?
Gosh… We never know here in N CA.
This past weekend was predicted to be in the low 80s, but was about 100° both days… Today too.
They’ve changed the forecast for this week twice a day since Friday.
September is often our hottest month, and a superhot day can sneak into October when nobody is looking… even if we already had some cold rainy ones.
This year we’ll be lucky to get rainy ones though.. We’re in drought again.
That would go great with some St. Louis ribs that I’m smoking today.
Sounds terrific! Save us some!
sooooooo…what time is dinner?
I’m not much of a beer drinker, but that looks pretty darned good!
Grandma Moses
No! No! Too soon! No white stuff yet!!!
isn’t that a nasty 4 letter word?
Darn right it is!!
Salami
You can serve that salami with the beer up above! Sounds good to me!
