It’s a short pencil being incredibly carefully shaved in a handheld pencil sharpener.
I didn’t call it a pencil stub because it looks cut off, not like the end of the pencil.
The person obviously cares more about getting a huge curl of shavings than a point on the pencil. Layers of lead are being scraped away, long after, I’d guess, it already had the best point that sharpener could make.
It’s usually impossible to get that far without the shavings breaking… especially the lead, ie graphite.
But looking at the pencil… it might be square in cross section, and the lead is very thick. I’m pretty sure it’s a carpenter’s pencil. They’re usually flat… Rectangular, not square.
But I know you can get square ones, and some are expensive, and very tough. They’re made to mark on rough surfaces without breaking… Better wood, stronger lead.
I’d bet this is a piece of one of those.
Still… a masterful job of pencil sharpening, if there is a category for that. 😀
.
Looks like a standard hexagonal pencil to me, the bumps on the edge of the shavings look too close together to be a square one. I have a few carpenters pencils, and some of them are oval!
Honestly…. I hope this is faked, and not her friend taking a funny picture instead of helping her!
Anything for “likes.”
But fire moves fast.
….
I’m a bit triggered looking at stuff like this, because many years ago my skirt caught fire from a woodstove in a remote cabin.
I don’t think it took 10 seconds for my friend to throw me to the ground and wrap me in the rug, but I got a 3rd degree burn on the bottom of my butt, that took weeks, maybe a couple of months, to heal.
If you ever watch ‘Fail’ videos on the ‘Toobe, then this sort of thing is regrettably quite common, and scarily quick to happen. Especially with hairsprays etc. having been used.
I’ve been watching some milkweed leaf beetles at a neighborhood garden. Fewer this week than last week but we had a chilly wet weekend. They molt 15 to 24 times before reaching maturity, and are 5 to 7 mm long.
a mugshot. A studio shot for accuracy as the info card has production and scene numbers on it. It’s to verify he has the same appearance throughout that part of the movie.

This bird is actually called the little blue heron.
Somebody online asked Google how it was different from a blue heron, and the answer was “It’s smaller.” Great job, Google AI!
I wonder whether the Heron Queen is passing by… it’s (she’s?) doing a very nice curtsey.
.
What is (or was) that?

I’m thinking it’s an art piece.
(I’m not deliberately disagreeing with you Susan)
Definitely has an “art” vibe…

I wanna read the story of exploding cattle!

“Our plan is working – escape is imminent!”
Of course, the bottom one hasn’t figured out that only the top one will get out.
“But surely he’ll help me, after I help him...”
Uh huh.
He’s just getting ready to jump to push the other one over the side. That’ll teach him for climbing on me!
Cool – flying frogs!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooops.

That’s a pilot earning their pay.
Just a slight bit of crosswind. 😉
More like wind shear!

I know who!
GB and GA …but you knew that didn’t you .
I was stumped last night. I knew, but couldn’t recall. I got to GB and G and had to give up.
She’s one of my idols

“Was that a great party last night or what?”

Good advice given 100 years ago….
Why do so many still not follow it?
Nobody says “dearie” any more, probably… but there are plenty of “Sweetheart”s and “sweetie”s to take its place.
Mostly men… but I do even occasionally hear women do it, not only to waitresses, but young store cashiers and the like.
I got called sweetheart a few times as a 40-ish store manager. “Oh… Are you speaking to me, sir?”
My sister-in-law is one who does that. I get embarrassed every time I hear her do it.

We’re going to Maine on the 12th. Hope to see at least some of these displays.
The colors are amazing this year!

The only problem with that is the wet dog smell in the car for the 3-hour drive home…
Totally worth it!
YES!!!
find the panda
Got it. A bit tougher than most!
Yup!
But where’s the mouse and the barbeque grill?
I found panda within 5 seconds.

A different style for you, Nighthawks… not gonna say “new”, at this point, but not like most Cleo strips?
I like it.
You probably did it on the computer, but it’s like pen and ink…
with shading lines, and bits of the computer equivalent of Letra set halftones.
Next…. color with fake Ben Day dots?
just an experiment
I’m thinking so by the info on the card.
